Edmonton, Alberta & Fort McMurray, Alberta (November 17, 2016) – The Stream-Flo Group of Companies is pleased to announce the opening of its newly constructed service and distribution centre in Fort McMurray. A significant investment in the community and the industry, the 24,000-square-foot centre on 6.6 acres of land features specialized equipment, vehicles, service and training facilities for the high-temperature wellheads and gate valves that are used by Stream-Flo’s customers in the area.
Stream-Flo has had personnel in Fort McMurray since 2004, and opened its first facility in the city in 2006. The training centre was incorporated into the new facility in order to support the industry, customers and employees through both hands-on and classroom learning. The facility also has the equipment and expert technicians to service high-temperature choke valves manufactured by Master Flo Valve Inc., a member of the Stream-Flo Group of Companies. Other Stream-Flo services delivered from the facility include product installation, field support and maintenance of all Stream-Flo products, equipment repair, customer property management and equipment rentals. Stream-Flo and Master Flo engineers in Edmonton are also easily accessible to conduct training and to work with customers.
“We built this state-of-the-art facility to increase the value we provide to our customers in heavy oil, and to enable our customers to take full advantage of our high-temperature expertise,” says Mark McNeill, President of the Stream-Flo Group of Companies. “With the prolonged downturn in oil and gas, as well as the fires that swept through the city and surrounding area, it’s more important than ever to continue investing in the heavy oil industry, this community and our employees.
“The industry is working hard to maintain the infrastructure; we are there to help in a fully modern facility and equipment for sales, aftermarket service, and maintenance. It is our obligation to serve our customers and the community the best we can, and this facility is just one of the examples of Stream-Flo and Master Flo working with the community to achieve this.”
Stream-Flo was a pioneer in wellhead equipment for high-temperature applications in the Canadian oilsands. In 1989, it designed and manufactured the wellheads for the world’s first steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) pilot wells that were drilled from the surface. Today, the company’s thermal wellheads and gate valves, designed and manufactured in Canada, are used in high-temperature applications around the world, including cyclic steam stimulation (CSS), vapor extraction (VAPEX), toe to heel air injection (THAI), and emerging technologies. Similarly, Master Flo’s high-temperature choke valves are relied on to provide essential flow management in high-temperature production and injection applications in the Canadian oilsands and worldwide.
The Stream-Flo Group of Companies is an active supporter of the communities in which it operates, including Fort McMurray. In June 2016, employees in Canada and the United States donated $18,827.00 to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank in Fort McMurray and the American Red Cross Fort McMurray Relief Fund. This was matched by the McNeill family that owns Stream-Flo, making the total donation $37,854.00. In December 2015, instead of giving away door prizes at staff Christmas parties, the company made donations to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank along with food banks in 11 other Canadian and 6 U.S. communities. Other major organizations supported by the Stream-Flo Group of Companies include the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, the Duncan McNeill Centre for Innovation at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, the PTSD Foundation of America’s Camp Hope in Houston, and the Timothy J. Harnar Regional Burn Center in Lubbock, Texas.
