Stream-Flo Group Scholarship Program

The Stream-Flo Group of Companies prioritizes a commitment and focus on post-secondary education. In addition to the NAIT, the Duncan and Verda McNeill scholarships, and other post-secondary institution scholarships, team members of the Stream-Flo Group of Companies have the opportunity for their children to receive scholarships for their post-secondary education.

Since 2000, the Stream-Flo Group of Companies has awarded over 750 scholarships to children of our team members. These scholarships help students when attending an accredited post-secondary institution to pursue their field of choice. A wide range of programs across multiple institutions in North America and around the world have been chosen by the recipients.

Over the years, the recipients of the awards have been grateful and utilized their scholarships as a steppingstone to further their career. We have caught up with some of them, and their stories are worth the read.

2000 – 2004

Natalia Jaworska, PhD, was one of the first individuals to receive a scholarship. She attended the University Alberta from 2000-2004, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Neuroscience. She completed her Master in Neuroscience at Dalhousie University, Halifax, and completed her PhD at the University of Ottawa. Her postdoctoral fellowships were at the University of Calgary and McGill University, both focused on Psychiatry. Since finishing her school, Natalia has had many places of employment, but is currently a Scientist at the University of Ottawa’s Institute of Mental Health Research. Her advice to current students is that “It is OK to not have everything figured out from day one, take advantage of all that a post-secondary experience has to offer.” Natalia’s father, Ed Jaworski, is an employee at the Stream-Flo Edmonton location as the Quality Control Supervisor.

2002 – 2006

Jasmine Konsorada received a Stream-Flo Group of Companies scholarship back in 2002, and took a Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Accounting at the University of Alberta. During her studies, she was a Co-op Associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), a multinational professional services network of firms, and post-graduation remained working with the organization. For 14 years Jasmine has been loyal to PwC, and she is currently the Assurance Director based out of Edmonton, Alberta. She remains passionate to delivering value to clients and enhancing women in leadership. Jasmine’s father, Dwayne Konsorada, was a Sales Manager at Master Flo in Edmonton, Alberta before retiring.

2008 – 2012

Jonathan Thompson received a scholarship starting in 2008 for four consecutive years while attending the University of Alberta. Throughout his studies, he worked as an engineering intern in Calgary before graduating with a chemical engineering degree in 2012 and got a job right out of the gates with Shell Canada. Currently, he is working at the Shell Scotford facility in Fort Saskatchewan and has held various engineering positions since 2013 and continues to hold a professional membership with APEGA. This financial assistance for Jonathan was made available to him because Jonathan’s father, Matt Thompson, is the Master Flo HSE Manager at the Edmonton manufacturing facility.

2011 – 2015

Anna Holtby received a scholarship award for each year of her Bachelor of Journalism degree. She achieved combined honours in English at Carleton University, and has many fond memories from her studies out East in Ottawa. One of her most exhilarating memories from her studies was covering a meeting on Parliament Hill, where she received a press pass to enter the parliament buildings. Currently, Anna is working as a Development Writer at the University of Alberta, where she writes stories for the university website and the alumni magazine, New Trail. Her encouragement to current students it to not compare your journey or career with your peers. Anna also shares “I think there is a lot of joy in finding a balance between being brave and stepping outside your comfort zone but having grace for yourself when you don't always succeed.” Anna’s father, Jim Holtby, is the Director of Human Resources at Stream-Flo and works out of the head office in Edmonton. 

2013 – 2019

Kayley Jones received a Stream-Flo Group of Companies scholarship for every year of her post-secondary studies. For her Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in History, she studied at Texas A&M, and shortly after, completed her Masters of Information Science at the University of Texas – Austin. Her favourite memory was one of expanding out of her comfort zone with writing and researching and ended up winning an award from the history department. Kayley is currently the executive administrator for the High Meadow Development Company in Magnolia, Texas. Her quote to inspire other students would be “Let challenges intimidate you and stretch you to be able to accomplish things you didn’t know you could.” Jay Jones, Kayley’s father, is the Quotations Analyst at Stream Flo USA in Houston, Texas.

2015 – 2018

Sandra Ramos received a Stream-Flo scholarship starting in 2015. She studied in Edmonton, Alberta, and took a Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Accounting from 2015 – 2018. Her favourite memory was walking on the stage with her cap and gown, and genuinely appreciates the lifelong friends she has made while engaging in her studies. She is very excited to start working at Grant Thornton LLP in Edmonton in the upcoming fall of 2021. Her advice to current students is to stay firm in the confidence you had in the beginning, and to push through the difficult times when facing hard challenges. Sandra’s father, Armando Ramos, works out of the Stream-Flo Edmonton manufacturing location as an Assembly Technician. 

Industry-Related Scholarships

The Stream-Flo Group of Companies provides a total of eight scholarships to students in the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (NAIT) CNC Machinist Program and the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program. Many of these scholarship recipients go on to work at Stream-Flo or Master Flo as summer students and join us after graduation as full-time employees. By supporting students in these programs, Stream-Flo is helping to ensure the oil and gas industry as a whole has the skilled employees that will drive our growth and success the future. Watch the video below to learn more about NAIT scholarships from Taylor J. ENSERVA Education Fund Scholarship Program

As a member of the Energy Services Association of Canada (ENSERVA), Stream-Flo supports the ENSERVA Education Fund Scholarship Program. These competitive scholarships are awarded to post-secondary students connected to ENSERVA Regular Member companies as well as students at technical colleges enrolled in petroleum-related or trades programs.
