Our standard range of E-Series valves includes choke valves (right-angle bodies) and control valves (inline bodies) that share the same internals for a given nominal size. Thus they also share the same design features and benefits.

The tables below summarize the standard valve configurations available including types of trims. Detailed brochures are available to provide additional information on each valve.

Our standard single-stage trim is designated as E-Series for our entire range of valve sizes except for the P8. Consisting of a flow ring, a nozzle, and a stationary seat, it is available hardened stainless steel, Stellite #6® alloy, and our proprietary 5CB tungsten carbide.

This special single-stage trim is intended for mature applications that have no entrained abrasives; the detailed service conditions must by reviewed by our engineers to determine whether this trim is suitable for the application. It is designed to retrofit in existing valves, so it uses the same parts as the E-Series trim except for the nozzle, which has more ports. It is available for most valve sizes in either hardened stainless steel or our proprietary 5CB tungsten carbide.

For liquid-flow applications with large pressure drops, multi-stage trims are available that throttle the pressure in two separate stages. Depending on the pressure drop, there are two variations available--the MS trim, which splits the pressure drop in a 1:1 ratio, and the MSHP trim, which splits the pressure drop in a 4:1 ratio. These trims are available in a variety of sizes in Stellite #6® alloy only.

Multi-stage trims consist of two concentric ported cages with an intermediate sliding sleeve. The inner cage (nozzle) has the same port configuration as the standard trim. Seating integrity is also maintained throughout the life of the trim. By splitting the overall pressure drop into two smaller ones, the pressure at the vena contracta is prevented from dipping as low as in a single-stage trim; this reduces the potential for cavitation and its associated erosion and noise.

As shown in the Cv curves below, our standard trim provides an equal-percentage flow characteristic. A gradual response in the lower portion allows for controllability near the closed position, and the upper portion provides the overall capacity of the trim. This results in an exceptionally high turndown ratio and maximum controllability.
